One of my favorite things about winter fashion is boots. Boots are fun to wear. They are extremely versatile. They look great paired with jeans, slacks, skirts or day dresses, and they keep my feet warm!
There are plenty of boot choices out there. Let’s take a look at the main choices, and how to wear them.
These are, by far, my favorites. They are sexy and feminine, but if you go with a classic style and avoid spike heels, they are not too sexy and are definitely work-appropriate, especially in a relatively casual work setting. I usually wear knee high boots with skirts or with day dresses. Or, tuck skinny jeans into them for a more casual look.

These are perfect for wearing under your pants. While knee high boots will add bulk under pants, ankle boots are elegant and polished without adding bulk. Round toes are classic. Square or pointed toes come and go, but if not very pronounced, you can certainly wear them regardless of current trends.
It’s best to wear ankle boots with pants. Only wear them with skirts or dresses if you have slim ankles and long, lean legs.

I’m not a big fan of boots that hit at mid calf. They can look great if you have long, lean legs, but for most of us they are unflattering because they tend to hit at the widest part of the leg and make your leg appear thicker than it really is.

These are amazingly sexy – and not work appropriate. They’re great for clubbing, though, or even to wear during the day if you’re in the right mood and have a day off from work. Definitely tone down the rest of your outfit when you wear over the knee boots, or you could risk overdoing it.
