Are you as excited as I am about spring? Spring is my favorite season – a season of renewal and of new beginnings, and so it only makes sense that I would also see it – even more so than other seasons – as a great time to renew my wardrobe.
Having said that, when browsing through spring 2010 fashion trends, I am totally falling in love with some of them, but am vowing to ignore a few others – and so should you, in my very humble opinion.
Three Spring 2010 beauty and fashion trends that are NOT going to flatter the average woman:
Supposedly a fresh look for spring 2010, personally I find that applying green (or blue) eye shadow is extremely tricky for most women. I plan to stick with neutrals, possibly venturing into soft purple. If you feel like trying this look, don’t forget the magic word: blend, blend, and blend! Avoid harsh lines at all costs and blend away the edges.
Tie-dye is another hot trend for spring 2010 that I plan to ignore. I’m sorry, but regardless of how “sophisticated” they make it, if you’re over five years old you will have a very hard time pulling this look off. Possible exception: gorgeous, thin, young girls in their teens and early twenties who can make it look “fun” and “young.” But even for them, this could become tricky. If you do decide to try the tie-dye look, make sure you buy just one item – this is one of those trends that will become outdated quickly.
Neutral colors such as beige and khaki are a big trend for spring 2010 – and will make most women look washed out and tired. While I accept that grays may be a better option, especially for women with cool skin undertones, I would still caution most women to take a very careful look in the mirror before they wear something so pale next to their face. For most of us, the look is not flattering. If you do buy a light-gray piece, wear a bit more blush to compensate.
Of course, there are lots of fashion and beauty trends for spring 2010 that I absolutely adore, such as prints. Let’s discuss those in more detail next time.
